Adoption Journeys

Adoption Journeys in Massachusetts is a statewide Post Adoption support program of Child & Family Services. We are funded and supported by the Massachusetts Department of Children & Families. Our staff includes licensed social workers, counselors, child welfare and human services workers, and adoptive parents. Adoption Journeys is based on an understanding not only of the joys and challenges adoptive families face but also of the strengths and resources families have to cope with these challenges. Adoption Journeys is designed to support adoptive families in exploring and understanding their strengths, resources, and needs.

“We are the Lucky Ones” and “Our Many Voices” are mini-documentaries offering insights into the experiences of fathers and teens in adoptive families.

Adoption Journeys, in partnership with the Transformative Culture Project (formerly Press Pass TV), produced the following two videos with the goals of allowing the expression of largely unheard voices from within the adoption community and experience. In addition to the production of the videos, the project created community among the participants, strengthened their voices and gave them skills in video production.   Adoption Journeys is currently at work on producing a similar video, again in partnership with the Transformative Culture Project, on Sibling-hood in Adoption. These videos are available publicly and we invite you to share them widely.  Please feel free to share these with others.
